Packetworx First Campus IoT Tour Kicks Off at the University of the East

As the Internet of Things (IoT) begins transforming businesses, economies and society, Packetworx prepares the next generation to the biggest technology revolution. The Packetworx Campus IoT Tour started off last September 25, 2018 at the University of the East Caloocan-College of Engineering.

Packetworx’s mission is to accelerate the adoption of IoT in the Philippines. Schools, universities and the academe play an important role to achieve this. It means to get the youth involved in the fast-paced development of Internet of Things. By doing so, it increases the country’s competitiveness and will help the country transition towards an IoT-powered future.

In the seminar titled â€˜Internet of Things’, Packetworx Founder and CEO Arnold Bagabaldo backtracked the evolution of the technology and explained how fast everything can change even in a few years’ time.

‘Everything in life is connected and every information you gather will be useful in life. Finding your will to do things is a matter of finding a way of interest and grow from there. The world is changing around us and we need to adopt. This is where Internet of Things comes in, which is the next big thing in the country,’ he shares.

Packetworx believes that the students will make a huge contribution by having them well-informed and equipped about IoT. It is making the students understand the cutting-edge technology where they can create their own devices and applications.

To achieve our goals, we start with equipping our Filipino youth, our young innovators with free tools and IoT curriculum. We bring the learning, resources and our IoT expertise to the schools. We want their IoT ideas come to life,’ shares Raisa Orbon, Marketing and Communications Head of Packetworx.

Packetworx IoT Technology Hub offers a complete tools and equipment to create their own IoT projects. These young innovators can consult and get advice from Packetworx’s hardware and software engineers and even use the space all for free.

‘We are thankful to Packetworx for visiting us and to Sir Arnold for sharing his knowledge about Internet of Things. We are excited to personally see the IoT Technology Hub and create our own devices. We hope that we can apply for internship as well,’ says Kenneth Solinap, 5th year Electronics Engineering student.

‘The UE-College of Engineering Faculty is very excited to explore opportunities with Packetworx. ‘Internet of Things is something important to learn by our students. We look forward to visiting the Packetworx IoT Technology Hub and explore further,’ says Engr. Elmar C. Francisco, Branch Junior Adviser.

The seminar was attended by Electronics Engineering 3rd to 4th year students. Packetworx Campus IoT Tour next stop is Jose Rizal University on October 2, 2018.
